Have completed a thesis report on human rights within a local community in Rupsha, Khulna, Bangladesh. The human rights situation for boatmen on Rupsha Ghat, Khulna, is marked by significant vulnerabilities. These individuals, often from marginalized communities, face precarious economic conditions with unstable incomes and limited access to social safety nets. Their work is inherently dangerous, exposing them to harsh weather, the risk of accidents, and inadequate safety measures, as evidenced by reports of boatmen drowning in the river. Additionally, they may struggle with access to basic services like healthcare and sanitation, further compounded by the impact of environmental degradation on their livelihoods. In essence, they are facing a combination of economic hardship, safety risks, housing problem and limited access to essential services.
