2. Prevention: Identifying dangerous behaviors or situations to prevent them from occurring and making the public aware of safety regulations.
3. : Intervening promptly and efficiently when an emergency occurs, eg - rescuing a drowning person.
4. First Aid: Administering first aid to injured or ill persons until professional medical help arrives.
5. Communication: Communicating clearly and effectively with others in emergency situations, eg - other lifeguards, authorities or emergency services.
6. Equipment Handling: Ensure proper use and maintenance of rescue equipment (eg - rescue tube, board, first aid kit).
7. CONTROL AND DIRECTION: To direct crowding and rescue operations in emergency situations, so as to avoid chaos.
8. Physical Ability: Maintain your swimming skills, strength and endurance through regular training and exercise.
9. Knowledge and Skills: Always have knowledge of safety rules, rescue techniques, first aid and emergency protocols and practice them regularly.
10. Mental Preparedness: Having the mental preparation to remain calm and sane in stressful and critical situations and acquire the ability to take sound decisions quickly.
