I am Mohaiminul Raqib - a young leader and empath with a problem-solving mindset, who wants to make my time on this Earth add value to human lives. I also believe that having a genuine approach to life, heartfelt communication, and devotion to making a better society can lead us to bliss points.
As a young changemaker starting from the grassroots level and having a desire to make an impact at the global level, I am committed to changing the lives of people living in communuties with strong patriarchal cultures, in which they experience discrimination, exclusion, inequality, and disempowerment. My two primary areas of focus are the promotion of gender justice and the empowerment of young people to take action toward a just society. The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals which are most closely aligned with my work are related to Gender Equality, Quality Education, and Good Health and Well-being (e.g., HIV AIDS, Mental Health, etc.).
I am the founder of BIHDP (Bangladesh Integrated Human Development Program), which I developed in 2017 by obtaining input from the diverse communities we intended to serve, thereby increasing the likelihood for the effectiveness of our interventions. Our primary task is to create youth-driven projects promoting education for deprived children, supporting GBV-affected women on multiple levels, creating awareness campaigns on critical human rights issues, SRHR and mental health, food support for the poor, disaster response, and youth training and skills development. We have conducted over 21 projects all over Bangladesh with more than 50 volunteers from different regions. In near future, we plan to create a sustainable social business to create employment for people, focus on climate issues.
Additionally, I have worked as a youth fellow and won a grant award for my contribution to society as a gender activist from Civicus World Alliance, through which I have recently completed my year-long project. I am currently working in Restless Development as a youth global ambassador on a project related to HIV/AIDS and sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). I am also working with the 3Zero Club, to promote youth collaboration both at the national and international levels. Finally, I am an economics student at the University of Dhaka in Bangladesh.
